PASMO card

This page is about using a reloadable cash card in Tokyo.

There are two cards that are used in Tokyo, both do pretty much the same thing.  Suica is the branded card by Japan Railway line.  Pasmo is the card offered by the other non JR train lines.

If you don't have a Pasmo or Suica card, every time you go to the train station, you have to find a ticket machine, then you have to figure out where you are going and buy the correct fare.

It is easier to use a reloadable cash card around Tokyo, because all you have to do is tap it at the train stations.  The cost of the travel will automatically be deducted from your card balance.  Plus you get a bit of a travel discount when you use the card vs cash.
